Review:

This book starts off with 2 teens who get bullied.  After a violent altercation the teens find themselves at a abandoned house.  They go inside to investigate, only to find a woman chained to the ground. After trying to get the police to help the woman (who couldn't find her) they go back only to have one of their bullies be killed by the woman.  One of the teens comes in possession of the locket that kept the woman locked up.  The locket was full of the woman's anger and pain, which let her live as if she where immortal.  The teen with the locket kills the woman after finding out the reason she was put there.  The teen can't seem to let go of the locket and embraces the pain and anger as her own.  She kills her father after admitting she had feeling for the other teen.  The other teen is leery of her and becomes friends with one of their bullies, as he is sure he wants nothing to do with that sort of power.

I really liked how there was really no romance until the end of the book.  If it could be called romance.  I think it was put in there to help develop the split between Jude and Ashley, as the author said they will show up again later in the series.  I also enjoyed how the author showed that some bullies are essentially being bullied themselves, but have no idea how else to respond to bullying - except by being a bully.

I am excited to read the rest of this series.
