Pattern Notes

This border can be used on any stitch count. All you need to make sure is you have corners on your project. It doesn't matter the number of corners either.

This pattern can be done in any hook size and any yarn weight. Please use the yarn weight and hook size corresponding to and used for your project. Yardage needed may be vary if pattern is done different in different yarn weight.

The corners are important for this border. They are where the design comes in. The sides between each corner are just simple stitches. They add a bit to the design but are not the main feature of this border like the corners are.

This pattern is written assuming you have 4 corners.

Setting Up Your Project

These rounds are set up rounds for your project. It is to help ensure you will have the stitches you need to do the rest of the border

STEP 1: Find your corners and mark them with your removable stitch markers.

STEP 2: With CA & in marked corner join with a standing sc and add 2 more sc in same st, * sc in each st across until st before next corner next st you work in should be the marked corner st, 3sc in next marked st * around. Omit the last 3sc in marked corner as you started in a marked corner. Mark each middle sc of 3sc group.

Directions

ROUND 1: Leave stitch markers in for round 2. Join CB with a standing dc in any middle sc of 3sc group of prev rnd will be a marked st, ch2, dc in same st as joining, * (dc in each st across until you get to the next middle sc of 3sc group of prev rnd will be a marked st), dc, ch2, dc in middle sc of 3sc group of prev rnd will be a marked st * 3 times, then ( ) once. Join with a sl st to top of 1st st. Finish Off. Mark each ch2 sp of this rnd. Yes you will have 8 st markers – 2 in each corner but different sts.

ROUND 2: You will be working the dtr, ch3, dtr in the same st you worked the dc, ch2, dc in of prev rnd. You should have left your stitch markers in from prev rnd. With CA join with a standing dtr in marked st of rnd 1 making sure you work it in between the 2dc of prv rnd will be a marked st, ch3, dtr in same st, * (bpdc across side until you reach the ch3 of prev rnd), dtr, ch3, dtr in marked st of rnd 1 making sure you work them in between the 2dc of rnd 1 will be a marked st * 3 times, then ( ) once. Join with a sl st to 1st st. Finish off. Remove the st markers you had marking where to the work the dtr but leave in the others marking the ch2 of rnd 1. Mark each ch3 sp of this rnd. Yes you will have 8 sts markers – 2 in each corner but different sts.

ROUND 3: You will be working the dtr, ch3, dtr corners in the ch2 sp of rnd 1 that you have marked. With CC join with a standing dtr in the ch2 sp of rnd 1 you have marked ch3, dtr in same sp will be a marked st, * (bpdc across until you reach the ch3 of prev rnd), dtr, ch3, dtr in next marked ch2 sp of prev rnd will be a marked st * 3 times, then ( ) once. Join w ith a sl st to 1st st. Finish Off. Remove the st markers you had marking where to the work the dtr but leave in the others marking the ch3 of rnd 2.

ROUND 4: Join CA in any marked st should be ch3 of rnd 3 with a standing tr, 4tr in same sp, * (bpsc across until you reach the ch3 of rnd 3), 5tr in marked ch3 sp of rnd 2 * 3 times ( ) once. Join with a sl st to 1st st. Finish Off. Remove stitch markers.

ROUND 5: Join CA with a sl st in any st, rsc in each st around, rsc in the st you worked beg sl st in. Join with a sl st to 1st st. Finish Off. Weave in ends.
