1-2 ounces of worsted weight yarn
Hook size 5mm (H) crochet hook
Tapestry Needle

Stitches Used

sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain(s)
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double corchet
dc – double crochet
rsc- reverse single crochet or crab stitch
fpdc – Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around post of corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops, yarn over & pull through last 2 loops.
fphdc – Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around post of corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops.

Round 1: ch5, join with a sl st to 1st chain to make a loop. Ch3, 11dc in loop. Join with a sl st In top of beg ch3. 12dc

Round 2: ch3 counts as a dc, dc in same st as joining, 2dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch3. 24dc

Round 3: ch3 counts as a dc, dc in same st as joining, fphdc around next st, * 2dc in next st, fphdc around next st * 11times. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. 24dc, 12fphdc

Round 4: ch3 counts as a dc, dc in same st as joining, dc in next st, fphdc around next st should be fpdc from prev. rnd, * 2dc in next st, dc in next st, fphdc around next st should be fpdc from prev. rnd * 11 times., Join with a sl st in top of beg ch3. 36dc, 12fphdc

Make It Longer

If you need your beanie longer repeat round 5 on either beanie. When it is long enough do round 10 for newborn sizes or round 12 for 3-6 month size.
