I switch to the color I started the round with on the last stitch of the round. I find this makes the color change less visible.

Directions

Round 1: With C1 ch4 the skipped chs count as a dc, 5dc in 4th ch from hook switch to C2 & 6dc in same ch, switch to C1 & sl st to top of beg ch3. 12dc

Round 2: With C1 ch3 counts as a dc, dc in same st, 2dc in next 5 sts, switch to C2, 2dc in next 6 sts, switch to C1 & sl st to top of beg ch3. 24dc

Round 3: With C1 ch3 counts as a dc, dc in same st, dc in next st * 2dc in next st, dc in next st* 5 times, switch to C2, repeat * to * 6 times, switch to C1. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. 36dc

Round 4: With C1 ch3 counts as a dc, dc in same st, dc in next 2 sts, * 2dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts * 5 times, switch to C2, repeat * to * 6 more times, switch to C1. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish Off. 48dc

Round 5: With C3 join with a sl st into last st of C1 on round 4, ch4 counts as a tr, tr in same st, ch2, 2tr in next st should be 1st st of C2 in round 4, * (dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 4 sts, dc in next 3 sts) 2tr in next st, ch2, 2tr in next st * 3 times, ( ) once, Join with a sl st to top of beg ch4. 16tr, 24dc, 16hdc, 4 ch2 sps

Round 6: ch3 counts as a dc, dc in next st, * dc, tr, ch2, tr, dc in next ch2 sp, dc in next 14 sts * 3 times, dc next 12 sts. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish Off. 8tr, 64dc, 4 ch2 sps

Round 7: With C1 join with a sl st to any ch2 corner sp, ch3 counts as a dc, dc, ch2, 2dc in same sp, * ([switch between C1 & C2 depending on what your last st was in, dc in next 2 sts] 9 times), 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch2 sp * 3 times then ( ) once more. Switch to C1 & join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish Off. 88dc, 4 ch2 sps Note: the corners will always be C1 if colors switching is done right.

Round 8: With C3 joining with a sl st in any ch2 sp, ch2 counts as a hdc, hdc, ch2, 2hdc in same sp, * (hdc in next 22 sts) 2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in ch2 sp * 3 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch2. Finish Off. 104hdc, 4ch2 sps

Round 9: Note: color placement isn't exactly important but if you want it to look like the picture then start in a corner ch2 sp that lines up with the color changes from the first 4 rounds. Also the colors are changed in the corner ch sts. If this doesn't work out for you you can change them at the end of the side or at the end of the ch2.
With C1 join in a corner ch2 sp with a sl st, ch2 counts as a hdc, hdc in same st, ch1, switch to C2, ch1, 2hdc in same ch2 sp, * hdc in next 26 sts, 2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in next ch2 sp, hdc in next 26sts *, 2hdc in next ch2 sp, ch1, switch colors, ch1, 2hdc in same ch sp, then * to *. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch2. Finish Off. 120hdc, 4 ch2 sps

Round 10: With C3 join with a sc in any ch2 sp, 2sc in same sp, * (sc in next 30 sts), 3sc in next ch sp * 3 times then ( ) once more. Finish Off. 132sc Weave in ends.
