Review:
I wasn't sure about this book at first. It seemed like I would have liked it when I was in my 20s, not now. It is young adult after all - it would make sense that was what happened. I thought it would end up on my DNF list - even as an audiobook. I was just about to give up on it until Bastian came in and added just what was needed. Now I NEED to read the next book to see what happens!
Amora I hope sets the atrocities right in her new gained kingdom. I hope she doesn't end up hating Bastian for the power he holds over her. It seems like it wasn't his fault - but as it kept being said in the book - he is a pirate.
I was so pissed off about why the magic was separated. All I could think of was 'typical power hungry asshole' while reading that part of the story.
Also, do you ever read stories with arranged marriages? You get so upset that it is being forced on either or both of them that you want to correct it & end up reading fanfiction that fixes it? It seems the author did that for you right in the same book. No fan fiction needed to stop that arranged marriage.
